Design and Technology
Approach
The three key areas of the program, Critiquing, Designing
and Making are covered using an integrated approach.
Children experience hands on activities designed to
develop an understanding of society, the sciences, the
environment and modern basic technology. We use a constructivist
approach, allowing the students to build upon their
prior knowledge and imagination. This knowledge can
be used for leisure, lifelong learning, work (paid,
unpaid, voluntary) and participation in democratic processes
and decision making.
We have:
- Junior Primary playrooms
- Reception ‘shared activities’
- Construction and making areas
- Polydrons, Lego, Lego Technics, building blocks,
Mobilo etc
- Technological Learning Centre
- Information and Communication Technologies -ICT
(ie: two computer suites, interactive white board,
projector)
- Two class sets of laptop computers with wireless
access
- Digital cameras
