Resource Centre

The Resource Centre is a facility shared by the whole school community.  The Centre is automated using the Bookmark Computer system with two Circulation and four Public Access terminals. Our collection includes Fiction, Non Fiction, Picture Fiction, Magazines, Reference, Multi-media and Staff Resources.

The Resource Centre consists of the main area for Library and Teacher Reference and the “Fishbowl” for additional research and media.

The “Fishbowl” is linked to the Main Library and the Green Computer Suite. It contains five computers for information research and an additional 2 computers for media – clay animation, video editing and robotics.

The Resource Centre is open each morning from 8.30am to 9.30am for General Borrowing for students. Parents are welcome to come with their children before school begins. The Centre is open during lunchtimes for games and reading.

Resource based Learning:

Based on the SACSA Frameworks, the Teacher Librarian works with class teachers and students using Resource Based Learning methodologies integrating Information Communication Technologies across the curriculum, to encourage the skills necessary for life long learning.

The Teacher Librarian and the Class Teacher collaborate to plan units of work.  Implementation includes working with individuals, small groups or whole class programs. Resource Centre staff also negotiate with outside agencies so students can become involved with community groups to enhance their learning experiences.
