Science

At Aldinga Primary School Science is delivered through four conceptual strands.

  • Earth and Space
  • Energy Systems
  • Life Systems
  • Matter

Students engage in working scientifically through the conceptual strands, continually relating their learning to the world around them.

Science teaching and learning is underpinned by the opportunity for students to be acknowledged for their prior knowledge and for us to support their learning by creating opportunities to investigate science globally. Students continue to hypothesise, investigate, compare, discuss, describe, pose questions, research, plan and report, enabling them to construct their understanding of the world around them. This is constructivism.

Throughout students’ learning of Science our school develops and nurtures the skills needed for them to become confident learners in Science by embedding Literacy, Numeracy and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into their learning.
