Dress Code

The R-7 Dress Code for our school comprises the following:

  • The School Colours are plain maroon & plain bottle green.  These colours will be promoted above all others.
  • Plain black pants/skirts can only be worn in conjunction with maroon and bottle green e.g. black pants and bottle green top, Check dresses in green and white, maroon and white, green and maroon are acceptable.
  • All colours (except for the checks above) are to be plain except for designs approved by the Governing Council Dress Code committee i.e. logo on tops, Year 7 commemorative tops etc.

Items Not Acceptable:

  • Mini skirts or brief shorts.
  • Thongs, slippers or party shoes.
  • Makeup or dangling earrings.
  • Body piercing
  • Midriff/tank tops

All students leaving the school for any reason (excursions, etc) will need to wear correct Dress Code.  Some of these items will be available from the schools’ second hand dress code shop, however, there are many other suppliers who also stock these colours.

For wilful and persistent breaches of the dress code we will use one or more of the following approved strategies: speak to and encourage the child, notify parents, warn the child, give planning room, provide spare clothing for those children not exempted to change into.

There are quite specific grounds for exemption (see below) that will be adhered to.  If you require an exemption and meet one or more of the exemption criteria you will need to write to either Principal.  Grounds on which parents may seek exemption are:

  • Religious
  • Cultural or ethnic
  • New students (time to purchase)
  • Itinerant students
  • Financial hardship
  • Genuine medical or family sickness reasons.

Please note that a request does not automatically guarantee exemption as there may be other options eg borrowing clothes from the school.
