NNutrition
Aldinga Primary School recognises the importance
and impact that nutrition has on the health and wellbeing of students.
Canteen
Our Canteen provides healthy foods that model and
reinforce healthy eating messages that are given in the classroom, and enable
healthy eating behaviours to be practised. We provide a wide range of
tasty, healthy and affordable foods that are consistent with Australian dietary
recommendations such as the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating (http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/publications/nhome.htm)
Munch and Crunch
All students participate in munch and crunch time
during the morning. Munch and Crunch time is a fruit and vegetable eating time
with the focus being on fresh food that each student brings to school each day.
Water
All students are encouraged to bring water bottles
to school and are given access to these throughout the day. Students are
encouraged to drink water regularly during the day to aid brain function.
Supervised Eating Times
Students are provided with supervised time to eat
their recess and lunch, prior to outdoor play times.
Healthy Lunch Boxes
Students are encouraged to bring healthy food to
school, that provides sustained energy rather than quick sugar bursts: the less
packaged and processed food the better.
Aldinga Breakfast Club (ABC)
Breakfast Club is held on Mondays and Fridays at
the Senior Citizens Club from 7.45am-8.15am. Volunteers provide healthy
breakfast foods with advice from dieticians.

- Restorative
Practices
Restorative Practices
Restorative Practices work by developing the
underpinning of an inclusive, caring community, and when things go wrong,
engaging wrongdoers, victims and "significant others" in collective
solution-seeking, aimed at reparation and restoration.
(Rewriting the Rules – The Age Aug 15 2005)
At Aldinga Primary School most staff have been
trained in Restorative Practices and are continuing to develop their skills in
this area.
The Behaviour Development Policy reflects our commitment
to Restorative Practices.
